In 2009 Rush's Naseer Shoukat won the O'Grady Cup for bowling in Leinster. In 13 matches he claimed 28 wickets at an average of 11.46. Consistency was his hallmark for although his best bowling was 3-16 he averaged 2.16 wickets per innings.

International: Having gained an Irish passport, Naseer played 11 times for Ireland in 2004-2005 with a best bowling performance of 5-30 against The Netherlands in 2004. Overall he took 24 wickets at an average of 23.42. His highest score was 48 against Scotland in Castle Avenue in 2004.


CP: Congratulations on winning the O'Grady Cup. What does it mean to you winning the Cup?

NS:  It means a lot to me and this is every bowler's dream to win this cup.


CP: You almost won the Samuels Cup for all-rounders as well but Albert Van Der Merwe pipped you on the last day of the season. How disappointing was that?

NS:  I am bit disappointed, but I would like to congratulate Albert for winning Samuels Cup and better luck for me next time


CP: How would you sum up the season for Rush?

NS:  It was not a great season for Rush as we were really looking to finish on top of the league, however we did not make it this time but we will do our best to win the league next year.


CP: Do you enjoy being captain?

NS:  I do enjoy beating captain, however it's a tough job.


CP: How does the side need to improve to gain promotion to the next level?

NS:  We need more commitment and hard work to gain promotion to the next level.


CP: When did you come to Ireland first?

NS: 1995


CP: What is the best thing about living in Ireland?

NS:  You're never far away from anything and there is always something to do. Irish people are very nice, friendly and ready to help you.


CP: And the worst?

NS: Nothing bad in Ireland for me.


CP:What has been the highlight of your cricket career?

NS:  I started my cricket career in 1984 and played 50 First Class matches. I played for Faisalabad, Water and Power Development Authority, Pakistan and Ireland. I took 150 first class wickets.  


CP: What was your most memorable match of 2009?

NS:  The most memorable match of 2009 were the matches when I completed my 8,000 runs and 500 wickets in Leinster Cricket.


CP: What are your remaining ambitions in the game?

NS:  My ambitions are to see Rush winning All Ireland Cup, Leinster Cup and the League.


CP: Favourite cricketer and why?

NS: Eoghan Conway (He's got a lot of potential as a good all rounder)


CP:What are you looking forward to doing during the close season instead of playing cricket?

NS: Playing golf


CP: What else are you passionate about besides cricket?

NS: Love to spend time with my family and to play golf


CP:Will you spend the whole winter in Ireland?

NS: Yes, I will


CP:Are you thinking ahead already to the 2010 season?

NS: Yes, we are. Never stop thinking about cricket....
