Opportunity knocks for Ireland U19 keeper, Stuart Poynter

by Administrator

28-year-old Middlesex 2nd XI ‘keeper Ben Scott is going to Worcestershire on a loan deal at the start of the 2010 season.

This will give Scott the opportunity to prove himself at a higher level. The door opens then for Ireland U19 stumper Stuart Poynter to become Middlesex’s 2nd XI ‘keeper at least while Scott is away.

The loan deal starts on 3rd April and is for a period of four weeks initially. However it can be extended.

Stuart, who turned 19 in October, is a brother of Clontarf’s Andrew who is in the Ireland senior squad.

Both are a nephew of former Ireland international Deryck Vincent, the former Clontarf player who played 21 times for Ireland between 1986 and 1991.

Stuart travels to New Zealand in January as part of the Ireland U19 squad to compete in the World Cup.
