My Top Ten Favourite West Indian cricketers are as follows:
1) Carl Hooper (WI 1987-2003) - My favourite cricketer for the early part of my life; loved the ease and grace he executed each and every shot.
2) Jeff Dujon (WI 1981-1991)- Probably the best wicket keeper of his time, good technique added to Caribbean flair.
3) Sir Garfield Sobers (1954-74)- Greatest cricketer the world has ever seen. Enough said.
4) Brian Lara ( 1990- 2007) Best batsman of his era arguably, and multiple record holder.
5) Clive Lloyd (1966-1985)- From all reports strong character and good man. Most successful West Indies captain.
6) Desmond Haynes (1978-1994) / Gordon Greenidge (1974-1991) - Hard to separate them, arguably the best opening pair of all time, (ask Mark Jones!).
7) Joel Garner (1977-1987) - Inspiration to any tall fast bowler, his videos helped to refine my run up and technique.
8) Malcolm Marshall (1978-1992)- Didn't have the height of his counterparts but was still as menacing and one of the first fast bowling all-rounders there were.
9) Sir Viv Richards (1974-1991)- No nonsense batsman and person, strong hearted and tough character.
10) Courtney Walsh (1984-2001) - First man to 500 test wickets and previous World Record Holder.
