CP: How was 2009 for you?
JS: 2009 was a year that brought both success and frustration. I grew up a lot as a person and a cricketer while living in England both during the university term and the summer playing with Worcestershire CCC.
Although my cricket did not go as well as I hoped it would do, I certainly have learned a lot about myself and how to improve my game and become a better player. It has definitely made more determined to succeed.
CP: How was the WCQ in Canada?
JS: Canada was a great success for Irish Cricket as we aim to become the world's leading associate country at under age level.
On a personal level I was pleased with how it went. Playing in foreign conditions is often difficult but the facilities and pitches allowed me to play freely and generally I was pleased with how I went but at the same time was disappointed I didn't kick on and do even better for the team.
CP: Highlight of cricket career to date?
JS: Representing Ireland in the U19 World Cup in Malaysia in 2008 would have to be one of my main achievements in cricket.
Having a spell in county cricket was also invaluable, and of course having just won in the recent WCQ in Canada.
CP: Worst moment of your cricket career to date?
JS: NICA tour to Cape Town 2004, five ducks out of 7 innings.
CP: What are your goals for 2010?
JS: To be part of a successful U19 World Cup campaign and have individual success.
Hopefully perform well throughout the year and hopefully gain an A team call up, and push for senior selection.

CP: What are your (cricket) long-term goals?
JS: From a young age I have always wanted to play cricket professionally and represent Ireland. If I am able to achieve these goals then I will be extremely proud.
CP: Biggest Influence on your career?
JS: My parents
CP: Favourite cricketer and why?
JS: Michael Hussey of Australia is a personal role model in both cricket and in life as he illustrates in his autobiography that I have been reading.
Not only is he extremely talented he also works harder than anyone I have ever heard of, something that breeds success. Reinforces that hard work pays off.
CP: Outside of cricket what else are you passionate about?
JS: Studying a sports science degree at UWIC University, but have a strong interest in journalism. Enjoy spending time with friends and family, going out and having a good time.
