From Outside The Rope: Hasten, Hurry, Rush!
While the great and the good of Leinster cricket were promenading their possessions (strutting their stuff?) on the Village green the Rope thought it would be interesting to visit the slightly less verdant but equally hospitable environs of Kenure for the meeting of Rush 2nd XI with The Hills 3rd string.
The home team batted first and when a catch was dropped in the second over it didn't bode well for the visitors, however when Will Archer (3 for 35) saw off Niall Mullen the home supporters were quiet and as further wickets tumbled they were quieter as the score reached 42 for 6. Along came Sean Bissett (60) and Patrick Monks (63) and they soon wiped the smiles off the Milverton faces as they led their team to a total of 194. Ian Tolan with 2 for 21, Steven Archer 2 for 35 and Akash Kashyapp 2 for 17 were the other bowlers to shine for The Hills.
Having allowed their hosts to get off the hook The Hills seemed to want to experiment with a bizarre batting line-up, not a good idea!
The visitors all too rapidly found themselves stumbling with 3 wickets down for 3, who's quiet now? Jason McGee (68*) and Steven Archer (58) who announced that it was too hot to run so he crashed 4 sixes and 6 fours in a rapid fire cameo together with aid from Johnny Archer, Paul Butler and Christivan Maritz eventually dragged The Hills to an unlikely final over victory.
