Cork Harlequins crowned Munster Champions, complete League and Cup Double

by Administrator
Result:
Cork County 2 (117-5,
20 overs) lost to Cork Harlequins 1 (120-2, 16.5 overs) by 8 wickets.

With the title already secured there was little at stake only pride as Cork Harlequins met old rivals Cork County 2 at Farmer's Cross.

Start was delayed due to a heavy mist but having won the toss Harlequins put County into bat.

Good straight bowling by opener Cory Atkinson pegged the County batsmen down and helped limit the run rate to under 5 an over. Atkinson finished with figures of 3-13 and was assisted by Rue Jones with 2-21.

With conditions improving County's total of 117 was never going to be enough against a strong Harlequin's line up.

Openers Mike Reid and Cormac Wilcox were soon putting on the runs. Wilcox put on 14 before edging to wicketkeeper Des O'Leary.

Reid was joined at the crease by Ted Williamson who was quickly into his stride. Reid 56* and Williamson 44 before being bowled by Robert Duggan secured victory with Mike Reid hitting the winning runs with a boundary in the 17th over.

Congratulations to Captain Mourne Bauer and his Harlequins team who went through the season undefeated.
