When John Anderson walked to the middle, a month ago, on 7th August at The Lawn, Merrion were 11-3 in the 8th over and close to crumbling to a humiliating defeat at the hands of a rampant Waringstown in their Irish Cup semi-final. When Anderson was out in the 47th over he had scored 101 and Merrion's total had moved on to 179 (eventually scoring 202-9 off 50 overs and winning by 81 runs).
This Saturday Anderson leads his team out to face Railway Union in Irish domestic cricket's blue riband event of the year, the Irish Cup Final.
Railway will start as favourites but having already beaten the favoured Strabane (away), CIYMS and North County, in addition to Waringstown in this year's competition that will suit Merrion very nicely.
Here the Merrion skipper gives a 60 Second interview to Cover Point.
